Steve McComas identified moderate EWM in his early June assessment and reassessed on July 8 to heavy EWM growth. Including his comments here.Steve conducted the Bald Eagle survey on June 8, 2025. We found several locations of heavy milfoil growth, primarily in the north end of Bald Eagle. EWM has not significantly increased since the June survey. However, native plant growth, especially flatstem pondweed and coontail have increased significantly in these areas.
We could treat some EWM areas, but the herbicide does not impact flatstem nor coontail. Therefore, even is the EWM is reduced with an herbicide treatment, the native plant growth will still be abundant and present navigational hindrences.
Last year we treated 55 acres.
Get the boards input on if we would like to treat in July.
Board would like to proceed with treatment for treatment in July
