  • Lake clean-up is set for March 4. Sue contacted Kevin Lund and he is happy to get a dumpster to the boat launch area. Sue will contact Kevin to determine a time frame. Carole will then notify people through FB and NextDoor and Mail Chimp.

  • Hockey Day MN. Jenn and Sue have been in communications with Nick Guzzo and Angie, the volunteer coordinator,  regarding any need for more volunteers.

  • Meg will talk to Doug about contacting these groups.
  • We will have a drawing again for those who pay dues by 2/15. The date the payment was received online or the postmark on envelopes will be used for cut off.

  • Meg proposed a document/letter to send to various organizations associated with Bald Eagle Lake, such as the Children’s Hospital Guild, Yacht club, etc. to determine their interest in being listed on our website. Her letter draft is below.

Bald Eagle Lake organization members:

As Board members of the Bald Eagle Lake Association (BEAA), we have been brainstorming ideas around two goals; One, getting BEAA members to visit our website more frequently and Two, building a stronger lake community.

We are wondering if listing of and adding links to the various Bald Eagle Lake Organizations on the BEAA Website may help with these goals.  We could add a “Bald Eagle Lake Organizations” page to the BEAA Website.

Would you be interested in this option?  We’d appreciate your feedback. We will gather feedback from the various organizations and decide on next steps.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts on this.

  • Discussion ensued regarding contacting business owners who live on Bald Eagle Lake and asking them if they’d like to be listed on the website. We could add their links, logos, contact information, etc. The board want to give lake homeowners more information about their neighbors’ businesses and create more community around that information? The following draft was proposed, starting with the base of Meg’s letter above:

Bald Eagle Lake Association Members:

As Board members of the Bald Eagle Lake Association (BEAA), we have been brainstorming ideas around two goals; One, getting BEAA members to visit our website more frequently and Two, building a stronger lake community.

We are wondering if a listing of various businesses owned by supporting BEAA members, would be something of interest?   We could add a “Businesses owned by Bald Eagle Lake Supporting Members” page to the BEAA Website, including contact information, links, business logos, etc.  Would you be interested in this option?  We’d appreciate your feedback. We will gather feedback from the various interested businesses and decide on next steps.  Please send any comments or feedback to beaagroup@gmail.com

  • These promotional ideas for the website brought up other considerations based on Meg’s letter, as one of the goals was to build community. This currently is NOT part of our mission statement. Joe had some great ideas about how to revise our current mission statement and will bring proposals to our February meeting.

Doug Mulder - Vice President Report – Doug was not present for the meeting.

Annual Dinner Report – no report.  Deb was not present at the meeting.

  • Carole contacted Deb after the meeting to suggest the invitations be ready for our February board meeting so all members can get them stuffed and mailed. Carole will create the mailing address labels and get stamps/supplies.

Music on the Lake – Jenn and Laura

  • Jenn stated we need to determine a location. It was suggested that Bart Crockett might host it.  She will follow up with Bart.
  • The band “Free and Easy” was recommended for the event. All were in agreement. Jenn will contact them regarding space requirements.  If all works out, Jenn will get them booked and Joe will review the contract.

BRAINSTORMING ISSUES:

Increasing membership

  • how to “reward/recognize” dues paying members – a decal was recommended and done last year
  • getting their name listed on the website as a “supporting” member? , like you see in programs for Lakeshore Players or other programs supported by member dues (high school alums, etc).
    • Have different levels “ supporting” at $150, bronze/silver/gold/platinum for higher amounts?
    • We could add these ideas to mail, FB, ND dues paying reminders if we decide on something.
    • Getting annual, renewing corporate sponsors was also suggested.
    • Jenn mentioned that she prefers anonymity around such donations, so wouldn’t necessarily want postings on the website.
  • How to get community dock members to pay dues. Do we award the dock association with a “prize” for getting a certain percentage of their members to pay dues, such as a BEAA flag they could hang on their dock . Or possibly a custom flag that would include the BEAA logo and their community dock name?
  • Going forward, we should be sure to add “thank you to our supporting members” to all communications – Mail Chimp, FB, ND, etc. , dues letters, etc.
  • Carole will have Kelly/Melissa add a list of the 2022 Silent Auction donors to our website and will do the same after our April 2023 dinner (Carole requested 1-14-23).

Laura made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 p.m.  Jenn seconded and all approved.

Next meeting 2/13/23, 6 pm at Carole’s house.

MEETING DATES ARE THE 2ND MONDAY OF THE MONTH UNLESS OTHERWISE INFORMED.
